Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)

In case you haven't know, I've been having conjunctivitis for about a week now. Conjunctivitis, or what I'd rather call it, pink eye, is swelling (inflammation) or infection of the membrane lining the eyelids. It is contagious and is most commonly due to an infection (usually viral, but sometimes bacterial) or an allergic reaction.

My cousin started having pink eye weeks ago. I didn't really thought that it really is that contagious so I didn't bother taking extra precaution. Last Thursday, my left eye turned red all of a sudden. I thought it might just be some minor eye irritations and I didn't really bother. The next day, I wore contact lens when I was out. Honestly, it became worst. I don't know whether to blame myself for being stupid enough to still put contact lens on or I'm really having pink eye. So on Sunday itself, for some reason when I wake up in the morning my eyes look and feel puffy. It's been like that up till today. My right eye turned all red few days ago too. I might, or might not have been infected by my cousin. And now, my niece is having pink eye too. I think it was partially my fault 'cause I was carrying her a day before my eyes became all puffy. To make things worse, two days ago, I got to know that my cousin (younger brother to my cousin who had pink eye first) had pink eye too.

Heavy tearing, discomfort, and itchiness affecting both eyes...

This was how it looked like before it became all puffy. Watery eyes accompanied with discharge.

The only solution is to wear shades whenever I am going out - be it daytime or nighttime, indoor or outdoor. Pathetic.
